VanGoghAgain Galleries Recreates Artwork for Ringo Starr

Drexel Hill, PA, February 2, 2006 - Former Beatle Ringo Starr decided to create “computer art” to keep him from getting bored when on his world tours. While the images were created internationally, the artwork’s reproduction is being handled locally at VanGoghAgain Galleries in the Pilgrim Gardens Shopping Center. “It’s so exciting to be working with a legend like Ringo,” says John Cortese, who owns VanGoghAgain, along with his wife Andrea. “He’s taken a great interest in the project -- making sure the reproductions are printed with exactness.” And exact they are -- right down to the depth and colors. VanGoghAgain is an exclusive full-service fine art reproduction house and the Corteses have been offering unique reproduction services to the fine arts community since 1999. They have been printing the former Beatle’s reproductions for Neal Glaser of Celebrity Art, who coordinated Ringo Starr's first ever exhibition of his work at Pop International Galleries in New York City. The show, held this past summer, featured several different images, all hand signed by Ringo, and limited to only a small quantity of impressions each. Speaking about his artwork, Ringo told WNBC.com: "I started in the late nineties with my computer art. While I was touring it gave me something to do in all those crazy hotels you have to stay in on the road." Adding, with his trademark wit, "most of the titles for my pieces arrived because on computer you have to call them something, so I have. The easy way to look at it is, if it has a hat on - it will probably be called Hat Man." The Corteses met Ringo at the exhibit and were thrilled when he told them how pleased he was with their work. “It was so incredibly cool to meet him on such a personal level! I’m so happy that we can help Ringo Starr make a splash in the art world,” Cortese says. Ringo’s signed and limited prints are consistently selling out, with the proceeds donated to the Lotus US Foundation Charity, which supports charitable projects aimed at advancing social welfare causes. The prints typically sell from $1600 and higher. “The quality of the prints is exceptional. They’re on amazing paper stock and they are already coveted collectibles,” states John.
